A Michigan doctor from Oakland County, Dr. Farid Fata, was busted and pleads guilty for prescribing unnecessary chemotherapy for his patients. Oh and Mr. Fata's problems don't stop there, sources say he's been charged for thirteen counts of health care fraud, two counts of laundering money and one account of conspiracy to defraud the US. But of course this was not all of his accounts he was guilty for, as they found more on his email account. Fata has plead guilty to serveral counts against him, but he originally faced 29 counts of health care fraud, conspiracy, and other charges, DAMN FATA.
Fata was accused of recommending unnecessary cancer treatments to patients who were either at a terminal stage or remission stage in their cancer. The FBI interviewed his employees, and found that there were dozens of alleged misdiagnoses so the patients would need to get chemotherapy, especially people who would not benefit from it. Other treatments also included: hematology treatment and prescriptions for high levels of drugs that become high risk at such levels.
The question is, why did this not come to surface before it got out of hand? During the interviews, an oncologist that worked for Fata said he recommended a patient not to return because he was so disturbed by Fata's practice. These mistreatments took place between 2007 and 2013, that a hell of a long time. Sources say that multiple civil suits have been filed against Dr. Criminal Fata.
So what do you guys think? I can't really see this being much of a two sided, black and white situation. The guy just wanted to give people, who didn't need it, cancer treatment. That's a really dicky thing to do. Hopefully this guy never sees life outside his jail cell again.
